Weekly Transfers

I've decided to spend 4 points this week and bring in Carvalho and O'Shea for Agger and Evra. I hate to give up the 4 points but with two players unlikely to play (Agger) and out (Evra) I need to ring the changes. O'Shea is pretty much guaranteed a game with United suffering through so many defensive injuries and Carvalho is a great play for the next two weeks (Stoke and Boro at home).
After that I plan to move O'Shea out for Skrtel and probably Carvalho for Evra. I will also consider van der Sar for Reina to load up United players as they hit their typical United late season form.

Who are you guys moving in and out this week? Who do you like over the coming weeks? I will be doing my first running diary in a while tomorrow so please log on as we track our teams once more.

As I've mentioned before, two enforced changes. Malbranque and Elmander out, Defoe and Dempsey in.

When looking at Fulham players, I was worried about Bullards injury/potential transfer. Murphy seemed reasonable, and even though he has a set piece threat.. he actually hasn't been that productive.

I went for Dempsey because he knows where the goal is, he's been playing with swagger, and has been getting consistent game time.

I can't wait to see any marquee transfers that happen. Arshavin for one would be incredible! My plans for coming weeks will be to get rid of Cech, Figueroa, Carrick with the idea of bringing in Schwarzer, Steinsson, and perhaps Murphy/Bullard/Arteta/Cahill... you get the drift.

I am actually. You've been in great from since Christmas with a very impressive 84 last week. We have a quite a bit of overlap with Ronaldo vs Berbatov being the main differenetiators. Its certainly gonna be tight.

I managed to restrict myself to getting Skrtl for Belhadj. I really wanted to get Carvalho for Evra as well (and nearly did), but for once managed to stop myself. Just as well, I suppose. Saved me at least 4 points... as long as Paintsil doesn't get himself sent off tomorrow or something.

As the season ticks on, we're starting to get a bit of data to work with, albeit sometimes in small samples. This season I am not working with a relatively complex player model but am really interested in trying to "play the fixtures" as much as I can. A couple of sources of frustration, therefore, have been as below: 1. Sites which provide the difficulty of fixtures often seem a bit simplistic. Selecting defenders within the same team

We talked about this earlier in the season, but with a couple more games in the bag, I've updated the viz which attempts to help you choose your defenders. The "All Players" tab should in theory help you do this coming with a blank slate, but the r aison d'etre for the viz is to help you choose between players in the same side, once you've decided that, for example, you want a City defender. The viz can be found linked from the main menu , and here and should be opened separately to best read this piece. A few notes as of GW5 below. Arsenal I'm not sure how much value there is with this defense right now, but if you are planning to play the fixtures and take a chance with one of Emery's men, this would suggest it should be Mustafi rather than the 10% owner Bellerin who you should target. A brief update

Happy holidays everyone; it's been a while. For those not on Twitter, I was away in Costa Rica over the break without much - if any - internet access hence the lack of posts around these electronic pages. Well, actually, that's only the main reason, not the only one. In truth I've become a bit disillusioned with the fantasy game the past couple of months, partly due to my other commitments which make copying data at 2am somewhat less appealing, partly due to a lack of excitement in this year's game and finally due to the constant frustration I have with today's internet culture. This blog is a labour of love and aside from the small amount of money I made from the pre-season guide many of you graciously purchased, I don't get much out of this beyond the enjoyment of interacting with readers and hopefully helping a few of you to gain a couple of extra fantasy points every now and then.
