As the season ticks on, we're starting to get a bit of data to work with, albeit sometimes in small samples. This season I am not working with a relatively complex player model but am really interested in trying to "play the fixtures" as much as I can. A couple of sources of frustration, therefore, have been as below: 1. Sites which provide the difficulty of fixtures often seem a bit simplistic. For example, the Premier League site shows Wolves as an average "3-rated" opponent, both at home and away yet the reality is more complicated. While at home they have been very solid defensively, with an Expected Goals Conceded (xGC) of just 4.71 in five games, which ranks third best, yet on their travels they have surrendered 7.94 xGC, which is the third worst . Even more confusing is that most sites ( though not all ) don't distinguish between attacking and defensive fixtures, so facing Leeds at home is presented as an easy "2-rated" fixture when in reali

Vorm, Al-Habsi
Assou-Ekotto, Enrique, Shawcross, Evans, Simpson
Sessegnon, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Allen, Pilkington
RVP, Roo, Agbonhlahor (bought to this week)
I have to catch two guys who are 36 and 42 points over me. Player behind me has 75 points to me.
I'm planning to:
- before gw35 replace Dempsey to Bale,
- before gw36 replace Sessegnon to Van der Vaart
- before gw37 replace Sigurdsson to Moses,
- before gw38 it depends how it will look.
What do u think about that? Do you have any advices to me what can i do better? I don't have wildcard and i'm thinking about using some transfer with -4 point, but I'm still don't sure.
Please, help me. Cheers. :)
My advice is to keep Dempsey and Sessegnon. Dempsey plays against Wigan and has a double game week the following week. He is a oop striker at the moment and in top form. Sessegnon is amazing since playing in left midfield (and he is very attack happy).
I would try to get Bale (easy DGW), Walcott (top form and good fixtures) or Cisse (DGW and top form)in.
If you need to find money to effort the changes I would change Enrique and Shawcross for Caulker (SWA), Taylor (Sun) and McAuley (WBA)and obviously Agbon for Cisse.
Let me know how you go on and good luck! ; )
and second RVP-Suarez-Sturridge-BenArfa-Bale-Valencia-Ramires
Bale is of course replacement, but i have only 2,4 in the bank, and he can only be replaced by Demspey (9.3$). Your ideas is good, but I will have to use extra transfer and i'm not sure if it'll be cost that. ;) Only possibility with Bale, Vdv in for the double gameweek is that option which i wrote. Adebayor is just too cost.
Wildcard would be gift from God to me right now. :P
I can't tell you what team you should bring against them to get out the best result, but I would keep:
Vorm,
BAE, Evens, Simpson
Sessegon, Sigurdsson, Dempsey
RVP and Rooney
and try to fit in Bale/VDV, Walcott or Cisse (for GW36 after AV DGW).
I would only invest in 3 (Evans, Simpson and BAE) and try to keep the rest as cheap as possible to effort better players in midfield.
It's a bit of a gamble to decide between Bale/VDV and Dempsey and Sessegon. I wouldn't go in the double GW with 3 Tottenham players (Bale, VDV, BAE)instead of Dempsey, Sessegon and BAE. The later 3 are also very forward orientated players and in top form.
Where Bale and VDV struggled the last weeks... Even if they score some, they still have to contribute the points in between them.
