I think the most volitile choices for keeper lay in teams like chelsea and MU where so much learning one another's style on the pitch is about to take place. The only! choice for your starting keeper has to be schwarzer. Not only is he on a stable team set to play steady-unimpressive, yet reliable football, once again but his value frees up points to spread out on the rest of the field where a safe but more expensice player might be just whats necessary to score solid points in the first few weeks.nehrmt01https://www.blogger.com/profile/09000989842116537374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-75523291668743282342009-07-23T19:21:09.013-04:002009-07-23T19:21:09.013-04:00I really can't make up my mind about the keepe...I really can't make up my mind about the keeper issue! Currently I'm going with Schwarzer and Sorensen, but I'm beginning to like the Sorensen/Kirkland combo. But I'm not sure yet tho.Thommashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10798678993506354458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-63018566767692887112009-07-22T17:57:32.007-04:002009-07-22T17:57:32.007-04:00Based on the rough numbers I would only play Kirkl...Based on the rough numbers I would only play Kirkland three times in the first nine games, but over the first half of the season they would actually split 10-9.

I also like Hart but i didn't include him in my stats as I know close to nothing about Birmingham or the Championship last year. They had a good defense by the stats but whether that will translate is a tough one to call.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14124060389050404946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-17937035012637902182009-07-22T12:12:17.632-04:002009-07-22T12:12:17.632-04:00I'm struggling with this myself. It's interesting that you found the Kirkland/Sorensen combo best since at first glance Kirkland's fixtures are horrible, but I guess it's all about how they fall in relation to Sorensen.TD Ochohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06865430769027223765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-44458089413008861282009-07-22T09:18:50.476-04:002009-07-22T09:18:50.476-04:00yeh good point, that is definately an attraction o...yeh good point, that is definately an attraction of the big names, as like you say, Man U clean sheets for 6m is a good price.
My only reason for liking the budget guys is that sometimes they can score decent points from saves and bonuses even when the team concedes. Defenders however tend to get 2 points or a clean sheet (unless you get the odd goal).

NCNB made a great point about not wanting to pick the wrong guy each week and I think that is why we shy away from the combo strategy - fear of picking the wrong guy and looking stupid. If we accept we will sometimes make the wrong, but well informed decision, I think the strategy can work.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14124060389050404946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-83354282259635519962009-07-22T01:46:14.955-04:002009-07-22T01:46:14.955-04:00So for me the question is do I pick Cech / Shawcro...So for me the question is do I pick Cech / Shawcross or Sorensen / Alex, etc.marcohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00682456862627298124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1020279998144194267.post-76445818786700621732009-07-22T00:51:00.506-04:002009-07-22T00:51:00.506-04:00Good to see you back. When you look at the top 3 defenders and goalkeepers, sometimes the goalkeeper is lower price and certain to start. Let's take Chelsea. To get Chelsea clean sheets, at this stage I rather pick Cech at 6.5 vs Bosingwa, Cole, Zhirkov, Terry, Alex who are more expensive and/or not certain to start. When you put this against let's say Shawcross vs Sorensen from Stoke, that's the real question to ask rather than GK onlymarcohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00682456862627298124noreply@blogger.com
